- We received a request asking where Mr. Shamiq Syed voted in the November 3, 2020 General Election in light of a response from the Bergen County Clerk’s Election Division.
As many of you are aware, there were quite a few issues with the mail-in ballots during the May 2020 race.
To enable voters to determine if their ballots were received in time, this site (Did They Vote) posted lists of ballots received during the 2020 general election this past November.
As part of that effort, we requested and received on a rolling basis, the OPRA’d lists of ballots from each of NJ’s 21 Counties.
Mr. Shamiq Syed* was not listed as received on the 11/1/20 list, but did appear as received via Dropbox on the 11/2/20 update from the Hudson County Clerk as receiving his vote by mail ballot at his address in Weehawken, NJ (see email screenshot below).
The Ballot was mailed out on 10/3/2020 and marked received by the County Clerk of Hudson County.
Please note that questions regarding residency requirements for running for office are beyond the scope of DidTheyVote’s project. We are merely providing information after a request was received regarding information about where votes were cast.
* All registered voters in the State have a unique registration number. The number for Shamiq Syed in Weehawken, Hudson County in November 2020 matches the unique registration number for Mr. Syed today in Teaneck, Bergen County as of July, 2021.
